STAR 3.0 EVM - Monochrome LED Projection Modules
Options: UV VIS NIR
STAR 3.0 EVM monochrome LED light engine is a high performance DLP® projector based upon the Texas Instruments micromirror technology and designed to serve in demanding industrial or research applications.
STAR 3.0 EVM is available with the following V-Modules:
  • V-7001 VIS/UV
  • V-6501 VIS
  • V-650L NIR
System Architecture
The central control unit of STAR 3.0 EVM is USB 3.0 connected and realizes pattern upload, display, and synchronization. An integrated trigger facility supports a wide voltage range at its opto-coupler interface and is software programmable. The digital driver for the LED light source gives convenient access to power setting and temperature reading for thermal management.
The STAR 3.0 EVM monochrome LED light engines are based upon the STAR CORE optics, a cooling system, the ALP4.3 software, and integrate a high-power LED including the ViALUX LED driver for up to 24 A.
The following LED wavelengths are available for:
  • λ [nm] = 405 / 460 / 525 / 615 / White (DLP6500)
  • λ [nm] = 730 / 850 / 940 (DLP650LNIR)
  • λ [nm] = 405 / 460 / 525 / 615 / White (DLP7000)
  • λ [nm] = 365 / 385 / 405 (DLP7000UV)
The ViALUX LED driver of the STAR 3.0 EVM is controlled by I²C commands for setting the LED current and reading the LED thermistor output and seamlessly integrates with V‑Modules.
Block diagram of the STAR-065 3.0 EVM / STAR-07 3.0 EVM projection system: A PC with ALP-4.3 DLL Controller Suite controls the system via USB 3.0. The user software controlls pattern sequence upload, projection timing, triggering, LED control and thermal monitoring. The projection module contains an ALP-4.3 controller, 8 or 16 GB RAM pattern memory and a DLP7000 or DLP7000UV or DLP6500 or DLP650L micromirror array. The LED is controlled via a driver and output via an optics. Triggering from external hardware is possible. Active cooling is integrated.
